The Navajo Reservation covers over 27,000 square miles which includes a large landmass spanning 3 states (AZ, NM, UT) & 3 noncontiguous satellite communities across NM. The Southern part of Colorado includes ancestral Navajo homelands. In 2017 and 2018, the Navajo Nation purchased two large ranches in Colorado in Huerfano and Custer counties roughly equating to 29,000 acres.
